‘transition’ is an installation staged by light and laser artist li hui. it features a car wreck salvaged by the artist and illuminated with over 13000 laser lights mounted on the museum’s ceiling. the heat released from the laser lights brings about a rising fog that envelopes the surrounding space. in doing this, hui visualizes two polarizing emotions into one imagery.

buddhism plays a crucial role for the artist – especially the meaning of metempsychosis, which is expressed by the ascending fog.
chinese artist li hui graduated from the central academy of fine arts, beijing. his work, driven by his interest in spiritualism, particularly buddhism and chinese philosophy, has been exhibited in asia, including ‘sensibility: memories of twelve artists’ at dimensions art center in beijing and ‘unclear and clearness’ at the contemporary chinese art in korea.
